For many PWD, travel is challenging and sometimes impossible. Public transportation may be unreliable in some communities and have limited flexibility. Paratransit or accessible taxis may require prior scheduling. These limitations in travel are a greater challenge for those who live in suburban or rural areas where public transportation systems or paratransit/taxi services are less available. People often must rely on their own personal vehicles or those of family or friends, but not everyone has access to their own vehicle or the ability to drive or afford one. This problem is in part due to the limited knowledge and understanding that stakeholders (e.g., healthcare providers, engineers, and transportation system operators/designers) have for the complexities of transportation for WC users. SA1: develop an educational board game reflecting travel barriers for PWD; SA2: improve the awareness of stakeholders about travel barriers for PWD.
