Brandon Pitts serves as a RERC Co-PI at Purdue University. Dr. Pitts is an Assistant Professor in the School of Industrial Engineering, Director of the Next-generation Human-systems and Cognitive Engineering (NHanCE) Lab, and a Faculty Associate with the Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC) at Purdue University. Dr. Pitts has been involved in several research projects related to human factors, human-centered design, and accessibility for emerging and next-generation technologies. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and various industry partnerships. Dr. Pitts received an NSF CAREER award in 2023 and co-led a multidisciplinary team (with Dr. Bradley Duerstock) in winning 1st place in the U.S. DOT Inclusive Design Challenge (IDC) in 2022. Their team developed EASI RIDER, a life-size universally-designed autonomous vehicle prototype for people with disabilities. He is a team member on R4, T1, and T2.
